Douglas Fir trees are everywhere in the Pacific Northwest, and I felt constantly inspired by them throughout my trip down Highway 1 last fall. On the coast, they commonly live at least 500 years. They are often planted in reforestation efforts throughout the region—and for good reason, they’re hardy and lovely evergreens.
I cast Douglas Fir bark pieces in sterling silver and fashioned them into hoop earrings. I absolutely love how these turned out! From a distance, they might look like regular hoop earrings, but up close you’ll see just how special the bark texture really is. These earthy, fun earrings are already favorites among my friends.
