This unusual cuff features cherry tree bark cast in sterling silver. This bold piece is surprisingly comfortable.
The first thing you might think of when you imagine a cherry tree is its delicate, ephemeral blossoms. You might think of the tart or sweet stone fruit produced by some varieties. Or maybe you think of cherry wood, a favorite among woodworkers. The first thing that comes to mind likely is not the tree’s bark, though I would argue that it’s incredibly underrated!
Cherry bark features these unusual holes called lenticels that actually act as pores for the tree, allowing it to interact directly with the atmosphere. When I was hiking recently, I came upon a fallen cherry branch, and the bark slid into my hand wholly intact! When I cast it, I couldn’t get over how beautifully these holes and the texture of the bark itself translated into silver.
