These earrings start up top with cast stamens from a tulip blossom, and then luscious rectangular fossilized coral stones, and finally Myrtlewood leaves cast in sterling silver with the leaf enhanced with 23k gold keum-boo. While you may never chance along these things together in nature - I just loved they way they looked together - with the reproductive parts of the tulip, the rich oceanic history of the fossilized coral, and the intricate leaf surface detail and tantalizing shape, color, and movement of those little Myrtlewood leaves. Yummy.

The Myrtlewood is a tree that goes by many names, but it thrives in only one area—the beautiful coastal forests of the Pacific Northwest. One of its names—the California bay—hints at just how much these leaves resemble culinary bay leaves. But fresh Myrtlewood leaves have a peppery aroma all their own and were often used by Native American tribes as medicine.
